Turn your Club
Championship into World Golfers Championship!
Don’t keep your club championship a secret – Make it
known worldwide!
|
|
|
Normally The Club Championship produces just one
recognized winner.
|
|

|
World Golfers Championship
recognizes five winners. One in each flight and all
of them has the same possibility to be on the National
Team and become World Champions.
|
This will excite more players and make
your event better attended at all levels.
In addition, World Golfers Championship can
be used as an incentive to attract more members to your
club, since this opportunity will not be available at all
country clubs.

The Event:
The World Golfers Championship
is being held annually, normally in the end or middle of
November. In the past years the tournaments have been held in
Dominican Republic, Thailand, Turkey and South Africa. In 2007
the World Finals will be held in Malaysia. Currently
approximately 25 – 30 countries are involved, and it all
starts with local and regional qualification tournaments,
followed by National Finals to create the five person team
that will then represent their country. This is a unique
opportunity for most people, normally only available to the
world’s elite.
The World Final is a weeklong event. Two
practice rounds followed by four competitive rounds. At the
end, there will be team champions, as well as individual
champions.
The National Finals will be held
approximately one month prior to the World Finals.

Background:
World Golfers Championship
was introduced in 1995 by Mr. Sven Tumba, a former hockey
great from Sweden (inducted into The International Hockey Hall
of Fame). After his hockey career was over, Mr. Tumba turned
his attention to golf, and decided that he wanted to build a
tournament that was available to every golfer, regardless of
skill level. Using many of his contacts from all over the
world, he started World Golfers
Championship. In the
beginning it was an invitational tournament, but over the
years, the format has changed a few times, and is now played
as a team event with five players from each country – one from
each of the following handicap levels: 0-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20
and 21-25. The event has drawn much attention from many golf
professionals and celebrities alike. Starting in 2006 it will
run hand in hand with The Global Education Fund, which is an
international fund created by Mr. Tumba, aimed at helping
children in poor countries to get education and using sport as
a motivational tool.

The Cost:
There is an annual fee to the
participating club of $600.00. This fee entitles the club to
send one five-person team to the National final. The
individual player will pay his/hers own way to the National
final. Should he or she advance from there, all expenses
thereafter will be paid by our organization.
Since World Golfers Championship
is open to both men and women, there are a few different ways
to determine who should be eligible from your club.
A: You could have a “Tournament of Champions”, where
the winners from the Men’s Championship meet the winners from
the Ladies Championship.
B: You could create a whole new
mixed event to produce five winners.
C: Finally, for an additional $400.00 per club, you
would be entitled to send one male team and one female team to
the National finals.
