Tournament Rules and Formats

For the international event, go to the international web site @ www.worldgolferschampionship.com

The regional, state and national tournaments will all be played as an individual net stroke play format.

During each level of the competition one winner will be crowned to go to the next level.  Should the winner not be able to continue, the runner up will be asked to take his/her place.

The players will compete within their flight, which is based on their current handicap index. Strokes will be given inside the flight, based on the lowest handicap within the flight.

(Example: Flight # 2, handicap 6 – 10.
A player with a 9 handicap would be entitled to 3 strokes over 18 holes, while a player with a 6 handicap wouldn’t be entitled to any strokes.)

In case of a tie after the full competition, a comparison of scorecards will be used as a tiebreaker.

Starting at the most difficult ranked hole and going backwards towards the easiest hole, all based on net score on the particular hole.

If the tournament is played over more than one day, the last day’s scores will be used for the tiebreaker. USGA rules will govern all play. The tournament director has the right to implement local rules based on daily playing conditions, as long as these rules are announced in advance.

Different tee boxes may be used for different flights at the option of the tournament director. Ladies will play from ladies tees, and men from men’s tees.

Flights:

There will be 5 flights of competition.
All players will be assigned a flight based on their handicap index.

Flight # 1. Index 0 – 5
Flight # 2. Index 6 – 10
Flight # 3. Index 11 – 15
Flight # 4. Index 16 – 20
Flight # 5. Index 21 – 25

All handicaps are rounded off to the nearest full number. If you have an index of 5.5, you will play in flight # 2 with a 6 handicap.

Index 5.4 would place you in flight # 1 with a 5 handicap. Should you have a handicap over 25, you may play in flight # 5, but you will only be assigned a 25 handicap, since this is the maximum allowed handicap for this event.

All players must show a verified handicap card to the tournament organizer at check-in. This card cannot be more than 2 month old.

Should your handicap change between regional qualifier and state or national finals, you will play in the flight that you qualified in, at the beginning of the competition. If a handicap cannot be verified prior to tee-off, the player will not be eligible to win any of the prizes in the tournament.

The tournament director’s decisions are final and cannot be overruled after the conclusion of the tournament.
